The bright, colorful posters on the ward walls can’t quite mask the sterile whiteness of the hospital, or the heavy air of exhaustion and anxiety that hangs over the patients and their families.
They enter like a burst of sunshine, bearing bouquets of hope, pockets full of smiles, and brimming with positive energy.
All at once, the room is transformed. The silence is replaced by cheerful music that heals places that medicine cannot reach.

Armed with kindness and goodwill, our volunteers go room to room, spreading warmth, joy and solace. They hold hands, caress foreheads, share stories and jokes, and offer a listening ear, smiles and treats for adults and children of all ages. Their presence is a profound reminder to every patient that they are not alone in their battle.
It isn’t just the patients who feel the change, but the families, as well. Being a close family member to a sick patient is terribly draining, but Meirim Lachaim’s volunteers know how to lift their spirits and restore the smiles to their faces and hearts.
