Warming Hearts and Homes

Every morning, five-year-old Ella wakes up and looks at her feet. Her tiny, delicate toes are a pale, shivering blue. She didn’t play with markers or even with paint. She’s just cold… So, so cold.
No matter how tightly Mommy tucks the blanket around her at night, it always slips, and by dawn, Ella is awake, her teeth chattering uncontrollably against the morning frost.
“Mommy, I have an idea,” she says one morning. “Maybe if I sleep with my shoes on, my feet won’t be blue anymore?”

The Israeli winter is harsh, and as the cold peaks, the stone walls absorb the frost, turning rooms into iceboxes. For families that can’t afford to heat their homes, winter isn’t just a season—it’s a danger. Lacking proper heating and blankets, children, the elderly, and even adults are vulnerable to pneumonia and other illnesses.
As an integral part of our mission to bring relief and dignity, Meirim Lachaim volunteers seek out these freezing homes. We provide families with essential “heating kits”—radiators, space heaters, and thermal blankets—transforming a season of suffering into one of safety. Every year, we distribute thousands of kits that ensure that the winter is not just bearable for many families, but warm and cozy as well.

Partner with us in this great mitzvah. Help us warm little Ella’s feet and the hearts of countless other children. With your support, Ella won't have to sleep in her shoes—and you’ll go to sleep knowing that you’ve given others the gift of warmth!
